| 8AM Departure from your hotel in Guatemala city , returning around 6pm.
We drive southbound, from almost 5000 ft above sea level in Guate city to the Pacific Ocean shore, passing next to active Pacaya volcano and sugar cane plantations.
We also take a boat to reach the beach, passing through one of the few remaining protected areas for mangrove trees, also a shelter for endangered species such as green iguanas, caimans and sea-turtles.
Once on the beach, you can visit the CECON (Conservation Centre), where eggs of those species are hatched and the offspring is then released into the wild to be protected.
Of course, you are welcome to spend some time sunbathing in the exotic black sand beach! |
